Parallel Majors
Remember, that in many cases, a degree in business is not necessary to go into a business related field or career. Many companies and organizations look for the types of skills provided by most Liberal Arts majors: writing ability, critical and analytical thinking skills, research skills, etc. You can enhance a Liberal Arts major with job experience, volunteer work, internships, and co-curricular activities.
Here are some of the parallel major options for each Smith School Major:
* To sit for the CPA exam, individuals need to complete 150 credits. An undergraduate degree requires a minimum of 120 credits. This can leave the remaining 30 credits to take accounting specific courses at another institution or to pursue graduate level studies in accounting or business administration. This allows for flexibility in determining a parallel major if your career goal is to become an accountant.
